Hours of work – 25 hours per week / 39 weeks per annum (term time + 5 PD days)
Grade 3 Point 4 – 6
Starting salary - £15,052 (actual per annum)
Hadleigh High School is seeking to appoint a full time Learning Support Assistant – Intervention will play a key role in improving outcomes for students with additional learning needs by delivering targeted, evidence-informed intervention programmes. The postholder will work primarily with small groups of students who are withdrawn from their usual lessons for planned intervention sessions, rather than providing routine one-to-one or in-class classroom support.
Key Responsibilities
This is not an exhaustive list and the post holder will be expected to show flexibility and assist with other tasks of a similar nature.
- Deliver agreed intervention programmes to small groups of pupils in accordance with the school's programme, training and guidance.
- Withdraw pupils from lessons at agreed times and ensure that intervention sessions are purposeful, structured and engaging.
- Prepare resources and activities required for each intervention session.
- Follow programme guidance accurately while adapting delivery appropriately to meet the needs of the group.
- Maintain high expectations of pupil engagement, effort, behaviour and progress.
- Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence and positive attitudes towards learning.
- Use questioning, modelling, explanation and appropriate scaffolding to support pupils' learning.
- Provide opportunities for pupils to practise and apply newly acquired knowledge and skills.
- Recognise when pupils are experiencing difficulty and respond appropriately within the boundaries of the intervention programme.
