‘Be the best you can be’

“You can't stop a teacher when they want to do something. They just do it.” (J. D. Salinger)

If you want to make a difference to the lives of young learners by inspiring them through the study of Maths, come and join a like-minded faculty of Mathematic specialists and enthusiasts.

It is an incredibly exciting time to join a forward looking faculty.  The school’s motto is “Be the best you can be” and the Maths faculty believe in this and promote this ethos in their practice.  Over the last two years we have achieved some strong GCSE Mathematics results and we are very proud of the progress we have made.  We have a small team of experienced staff who work well together.  As well as a programme of intervention and supported study, the team offers enrichment opportunities.  We would like the successful candidate to further enhance the enrichment opportunities offered by the faculty and to be able to demonstrate an innovative and interactive style of teaching. For experienced staff who are looking to progress their career via the pastoral route, there is also an opportunity to pick up a Head of Year role within our school

This post would be suitable for a new entrant to the profession or a colleague seeking to broaden their experience.  Claydon High School, in liaison with local providers, provides an excellent support programme for newly appointed staff.  We pride ourselves on our positive hardworking ethos and collegiate atmosphere.

Claydon High School is a popular, oversubscribed and friendly comprehensive school on the outskirts of Ipswich; we are situated close to the A14 with easy transport links across Suffolk and into Essex.  We are a small school with 773 students on roll which means that there is a close working relationship with all the staff and students in the school, you will find you know the name of every student in the school.  The close relationship between staff and students means the school is a very friendly and supportive environment to work in.  As part of the Penrose Learning Trust we also work closely with other schools within the MAT to achieve “excellence through collaboration”.
